An ex Magaluf Worker – guest blog: Drew Harley Dunn

Old School Magaluf worker – guest blog

I received this from an old mate of mine and a well known face from the Magaluf old school.  So here is the first of my guest blogs from old school workers  Mr Drew Harley Dunn, worked 10 seasons in Magaluf and was PR manager at the Red Lion back in the day.  Currently living in Japan, here are his thoughts…

Old school Magaluf Worker - Drew Harley Dunn

Maga – no matter where you are in the world you’ll always get an itch to go back, a place where legends are born and friendships are made, where you get some really bad apples but only because it’s so cheap to holiday there, which some just appreciate rather than exploit by wearing a yellow thong with a hairy ass.

You’ve got the rich and famous sipping cocktails at Nikki beach parking their pimp motors out front, you’ve got two of the best tattoo artists in the world pimpin skins at magalluf ink, there’s an upside down museum to soften your hangover and bring out the inner kid, you can get a proper steak dinner from the BBQ at casablancas whilst the sun brings in the new day, you could then take a walk up torrenova hill for some cliff diving at sun rise, the main beach has pure white sand and palmtrees, nice lunch and smoothies at foxys.

Then there’s alexs, with a history beyond words, a slick r&b bar with badboy djs on the 1s&2s, a chill out lounge that’s housed some world famous heads, then the indie bar where you might get a wack over the head with the broom by the dj, but it’s pure rocknroll and you wouldn’t want it any other way.

If you wanna go deep? I’m talking deep into the rythem of the night, the project is housing some serious after hours events, and even Zumba in the daytime!

I spent ten seasons on/in Mallorca, I’ve missed out loads of special things to do, I was pretty adventurous whilst being there, i took my time and days off to travel around exploring the true culture of the island, the worlds finest artists of history used to holiday there hundreds of years ago because of the spirit of the island and its natural beauty, although the naughtiness in maga is fun sometimes, and we’ve all profited from it in one way or another (the beaches and amenities sure wouldn’t be that pretty if it wasn’t for the shagalluf crowds).

I fully support this page and hope the island keeps on building financially and aesthetically rather than get tarnished by the scumbags ( the media that is ).

So, nice one Shane, sending love from Japan, here here old boy X

I’m sure like me, there are plenty of old workers out there that love reading the stories and thoughts from old faces, so please send me an email or message on facebook if you would like to send me yours.  email shanesmallorca@gmail.com.  Special thanks to Drew for sharing this one 🙂

Now read why I returned to the Island
